OLD BUSINESS
Mission Statement
Discussion: Ft Tom had an existing Mission and Vision Statement; he read to the Vestry from Both. He spoke of the various characteristics of our vision items written down from the last session, pastoral and community building. If that is close to what we may want Ft Tom will table discussion for now, but Peter Rothermel from the Diocese, Faith Development, will be asked to bring his information to the Vestry. Robert said Larry Rice approached him with a vision statement he had written and wondered if they could use it. Jeff thought it a good idea if Fr Tom put out a notice on what we have done and solicit further comments from the congregation.
NEW BUSINESS
Golf Outing money distribution
Discussion: Fr Tom informed the vestry there is approximately $3,800 from the outing available for distribution to worthy causes. Apparently the New Hope Center is about to close, lack of food and funds. We do not want to give the money to New Hope, is there another food bank we can give money to? Cindy noted that before we had New Hope Center we gave all the money to Hebron Grace. Rita asked about giving to a Boy’s Home on the other end of Hwy 301 towards the interstate? None of the Vestry knew anything about the home. Janice asked if there is a Diocese sponsored food bank. JoAnn reminded the Vestry the money has always been given locally. Jeff suggested we do our home work and over the summer determine where we would like to give the money and make the decision at the September meeting. Fr Tom then told all to bring their ideas and information supporting their recommendation to the September meeting. Further discussion tabled until September.
Other New Business
Disposition of the Parish House
Discussion: Robert brought up the Parish House restoration idea and said he would personally donate $1000 towards installation of a new roof to the Parish House. Currently he has $2,800 committed from various people for roof repair or whatever else the Parish House needs in restoration. He asked Fr Tom if he would write an acknowledgement letter thanking the individuals for their donations and Fr Tom said he would. Robert said he is giving the money to the Treasurer.
Purchase of a new lawnmower
Discussion: Jeff stated there is a need for another lawnmower, often two or more people show up to cut grass using the single mower we have. It was noted we have always had two lawnmowers in the past.
Motion was made by Jeff that Louie Drum is allowed to purchase a riding mower of the same make and model as the one we currently own spending up to $1,200 for it.
Seconded by Robert
Discussion: None further
Motion voted on and passes by voice vote, all ayes
Plaques for the Deceased:
Discussion: Fr Tom said there is a board in the church with plaques on it naming parishioners who have died. Since he arrived at Epiphany 4 years ago there have been 17 funerals and no plaques added to the board. There was further discussion on where the plaque could be engraved. Cindy said that Chester is currently looking into it. Discussion tabled pending Chester’s findings on an engraver.
Closing Prayer and adjournment by Fr Tom Hendrickson at 8:19 pm
Respectfully
Fred Lupton
