The Vestry meeting came to order at 7pm on Thursday June 14,2012 in the Ministry Center, with Fr Tom Hendrickson, Robert Shingler, Chester Field, Holly Kirby, Jerry Thompson, Gene Scarborough, John Vergere, Connie Barnes present.
Fr Tom opened with prayer and Chester brought the devotion, citing Joshua 13:1-7, and talked about the fact that the work does not stop but is transferred to the next generation.
On motion by Robert and second by Chester, the minutes of May’s meeting were approved.
On motion by Gene and second by Chester the Treasurer’s report was approved. The Endowment Committee report was given to the Vestry and copies will be emailed to them.
On motion by Robert and second by Chester, the revised By-Laws were approved.
The Golf outing is next week and we had a good discussion about its progress. It is a very good fund raiser for our outreach program.
The cleaning under the Parish House porches will be done when cooler weather arrives next fall.
Gene will head up our Alpha Program scheduled to begin September 12. 2012. He will gather support from the various constituencies in our Church and form his team for training in July.
John told of the new sign and its nearing completion and asked for help to install it.
Connie suggested that the Church sponsor a booth at the upcoming Eutawville Festival on Labor Day weekend, and it was agreed to do so on motion from Gene and second by Connie.
Fr Tom then asked all in attendance to focus their daily prayer for the health of the Church and its members. He also stated that he would ask the Br. of St. Andrew and the DOK for a similar focus.
Fr Tom then asked to form a committee for the utilization of our property. This committee will consider the various uses of our buildings and the possibility of alternative uses. This is primarily an idea committee, as the final determination will be by the Vestry.
Fr Tom then closed the meeting with prayer and all joined in saying the Lord’s Prayer. The meeting adjourned at 8:05 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Fr Tom Hendrickson
