Vestry Minutes January 8, 2014
I. Prayer, opened at 7pm, Clay Young Absent
II. Devotion, Tom Hendrickson, Oswald Chambers, ‘My Utmost for His Highest’
a. The value of a life sacrificed to God for his purposes
III. Approval of minutes
a. R. Shingler moved and S. Matthews 2nd all aye
IV. Treasurer’s Report
a. John Vergere, M. Drum moved and R. Shingler 2nd and all aye
b. Discussion about various levels of cash in different accounts
c. Agreed to reduce cash in checking account to 25k and balance to Franklin Templeton funds
V. Old Business
a. Vestry training on the 10th w/ Nancy Armstrong
b. Agreed to have vestry meetings the third Thursday of the month
c. Review of By-Laws, for ongoing review and consideration
d. With the Tea Room closed, it was agreed to have new signs put up, and the Tea Room sign taken down
e. It was suggested to have language incorporate our Anglican Heritage into our signs

a. Election of J. Vergere as Treasurer and F. Lupton as Assistant Treasurer by acclamation
b. Election of Wardens
i. Sr. Warden, R. Shingler, moved by C. Field 2nd by M. Drum
ii. Jr. Warden, J. Barnes, moved by J. Riley 2nd by S. Matthews
c. Candidates for Endowment Committee
i. Fred Lupton, Chairman, J. Riley moved, C. Field 2nd all aye
ii. Connie Barnes, Mary Warner, Cherel Terrell, motion to allow F. Lupton to approach these three people and have two serve on committee, one three yr. term, one for a two yr. term, moved by R. Shingler 2nd M. Drum all aye
d. Discussed survey for Churchyard grave sites, Chester has a metal detector and will attempt to locate markers.
e. Motion to contribute 5%of monthly income to our endowment fund moved by J. Riley 2nd J. Barnes all aye
f. Continued discussion about microphone for Ministry Center and there may be one in the Outreach Building. M. Drum contacted a music store in Columbia and the range is $90-$200 for a complete setup
g. R. Lupton reported that her appeal letter for tax reduction would be sent to Orangeburg County using the comparable values in our neighborhood
h. Motion to have plaques made to honor Charlie Noller attached to the wood furniture that he made for our church use, moved by J. Barnes 2nd by M. Drum all aye
